Roadmap to Beta: The new Virb gets a launch date! →

I came across a post today on Infosthetics about the New York Times' partnership with Many Eyes (an IBM company) to create a "Visualization Laboratory." Their goal is "to allow newspaper readers to visualize and comment on information and data sets presented by Times editors, share those visualizations with others and create topic hubs where people can discuss specific subjects."
I'm not sure when this partnership officially started, but NYTimes has been featuring a lot of cool stuff lately. Sam, a co-worker of mine, showed me this cool Electoral map of the key states, and who is favored in which as we approach this election.
For some reason, I wasn't able to get VizLab's java applet to load in Firefox (on my work computer or my home computer), but things popped up nicely in Safari.
I particularly like the Obama DNC Acceptance Speech Wordle (blue photo above) and its counterpart - John McCain's RNC Speech.
If you follow this blog at all, you know that I'm a huge fan of infographics and data visualizations. For more, check out the hidden cost of war, a Good Magazine video, and a Goldfrapp music video from Flight404.
